“Produced exclusively for the on-premise channel, Pimpala Road is also the location of our home, the historic Mount Hurtle winery.” – Geoff Merrill
The aroma displays ripe mulberry, black cherry and chocolate notes with hints of pepper, savoury meats and spice.
Ripe berry flavours come forward on the palate, then reveal a smooth, well rounded structure supported by fine tannin and gentle acidity.
Enjoy with Pepperoni Pizza, BBQ Sausages, Buffalo Wings and a Gourmet Cheese Burger.
VINTAGE INFORMATION: The 2020 vintage was one of the lowest yielding in recent memory with a dry winter with unusually strong winds the main factors. A mild and dry spring followed before the rain returned in November. The summer heat then arrived triggering the end of shoot growth as the vines directed all their energy into berry development. January saw above average rainfall and below average temperatures allowing the fruit to gently ease themselves into veraison. During harvest the nights remained cool helping the retention of natural acidity. Important to note, none of the vineyards selected for inclusion in the Pimpala Road wines were impacted by the bushfires that impacted the state over the festive period.
