“Take flight with ‘The Gaggle by Merrill’, premium wines with a playful attitude. There’s a flavour for every occasion, and a goose on every label. Choose the goose that matches your mood, but don’t lay these golden eggs in the cellar; these youthful, fresh wines are designed to drink now.” – Geoff Merrill

Wonderful varietal aromas displaying orange blossom, lime zest, and green pear open up to tropical fruits.
Immediately showing its varietal and regional pedigree with citrus and green apple flavours. The balanced acidity on the palate finishes almost unexpectedly gentle, adding to its youthful drinkability.
“Enjoy with pickled octopus, goats cheese, roast snapper, Thai cooked fish with spice and tamarind.”
The 2021 vintage is described by local winemakers as ‘Classic Clare’ with cool and dry conditions producing solid yields and fruit with great varietal character and natural acidity. Rainfall during winter and spring lead to early canopy growth before a drier November ensured conditions were ideal for flowering. The slower ripening and longer growing season with mild weather conditions combined to produce wonderful wines with varietal character and outstanding middle pallet development. The 2021 vintage is being hailed across South Australia as ‘one for the ages’ with the Clare proving no exception.

“Pristine and brightly expressed with crunchy apple, green rockmelon and lime zest aromas, it’s juicy and vibrant on the palate delivering lovely fruit purity and youthful fruit intensity. Mouth-watering and delectably appealing. At its best: now to 2028.”

“With very pretty floral and lime fruit this is a little more aromatic than many Rieslings. Lively and fresh, with excellent acidity and good length of flavours. This would be a good alternative to a Sauvignon Blanc on a warm spring afternoon while chatting with friends.”

“Clare Valley in a very good year – it doesn’t get much better for Riesling which is the home of this wine from Geoff Merrill,
and it really delivers. One thing Merrill knows about – among many other things if you ask him – is Riesling. This has all
those delightful lemon essence characters with a beautifully precise crisp acidity sustaining a long finish. As good a vintage
as it gets.”
Ray Jordan (Winepilot)
“Clare Valley Riesling from what should be a pretty good vintage. Good flavour here. Lemon and lime, emphasise on the
latter, with a mineral edge, along with clear bubble-gum-ester notes. Attractive enough and may well improve.”
