2012 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

“Approx. 14 months after vintage, Geoff and Scott undergo a blind tasting to select the finest barrels from our Coonawarra and McLaren Vale vineyards that make the grade for our Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon. These barrels are blended together in tank then returned to a variety of new and seasoned American and French oak hogsheads for additional maturation prior to bottling.”- Geoff Merrill

Wine Reviews:

95 points – Sam Kim (Wine Orbit)

“Made from grapes grown in Coonawarra and McLaren Vale, this splendid rendition shows cassis, spiced plum, vanilla, smoked game and cedar characters on the nose, leading to a concentrated palate that displays outstanding weight and depth. The wine delivers classic varietal intensity backed by flowing mouthfeel and fine texture, finishing impressively long and engaging. Wonderfully harmonious and gratifying.5 stars.

94 points – Ray Jordan (The West Australian)

“The lifted varietal, leafy, blackcurrant notes of Coonawarra are evident from the first engagement on the nose. The palate is silky smooth. It’s had 34 months in French and American oak hogsheads, yet the fruit emerges the better for it. Power and style.”

Very deep, dark red with a good tint of purple and a fresh minty berry and oak bouquet. It's bright, fresh and intense with hi-fi Cabernet flavour and aroma. It's ripe and varietal, and laced with appealing peppermint. The tannins are persuasive but elegantly-crafted and fine-grained. A very smart Cabernet."
