2013 Jacko's Shiraz

“Michael “Jacko” James worked in our cellars until he succumbed to a long battle with leukemia at the age of 26. His legendary character and courage left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Our tribute to him is this full bodied Shiraz which displays rich peppery fruit over a firm underlying structure with great length.”Geoff Merrill

Wine Reviews:

96 points – Huon Hooke (The Real Review) “Ranked #1 of 110 Shiraz from McLaren Vale in 2013”

“Deep red colour with a strong purple tint. The bouquet is rich and ripe and shows attractive mellow, mature fruit character. The wine is deliciously sweet-fruited on the palate, lush and slurpable, with abundant soft, fine tannins and lovely texture. It's very charming and inviting. At six years, it's in a great place - it's a delicious drink right now.5 stars

94 points – Ned Goodwin (Halliday Wine Companion)

“Reductive handling has worked well for this wine, which, despite 27 months in oak, maintains its freshness. Boysenberry, violet, star anise and a whiff of iodine bounce across the long finish line, with some vanilla tones a mere echo.”

94 points – Sam Kim (Wine Orbit)

“Powerfully graceful, this is a magnificent shiraz filled with dark fruit richness, wonderfully supported by notes of game, cake spice, cedar and cocoa. It is mouth filling and delicious on the palate, offering fabulous fruit purity as well as seductive savoury nuances, superbly framed by silky tannins. Expansive, persistent and hugely appealing.5 stars.”
